Shkodra is one of the biggest cities of Albania. It lies in the North Western part of the country and is confined from the North, South and West from the Kiri, Drini and Buna rivers respectively. The lake of Shkodra and Tarabosh Mountain are in the western part of the city.
Shkodra is an ancient city with rich history. Evidence to this are the numerous objects, historical monuments, museums and historical places welcoming the foreign tourists. The old city quarters have characteristic houses with wood carving and other traditional motifs.
The tour in Shkodra will remain uncompleted if you fail to visit the Rozafa Castle, built on a rocky hill. That castle is one of the ancient Illyrian castles. The legend on a woman, who was immured on its foundations, speaks of its antiquity. The archaeological and historical findings and researches in this castle and other objects have proved the antiquity of Shkodra, the developments the city saw in the fields of culture, trade, handicraft, navigator very early.
An object worthy to see is the Mesi Bridge on Kiri river. It is 8km North East of Shkodra and belongs to Medieval Age.
On the shores of the lake, 6km from Shkodra, is Shiroka, a holiday and fishing center. Likewise, the tourists may organize trips to the other climacteric places, as in Theth (74 km) and Razem.
