The Albanian folk tradition is rich, various and has special artistic values and ideas. It is devided into the areas of literature, music, choreography and drama. The literary folk tradition is represented by poems, tales, legends, jokes and puzzles. Several folk activities take place in Albania. The most important are: 

 • Folk Festival “ Sofra Dardane” is organized by the middle of June in the region of Tropoja.Different folkloric groups mainly from north of Albania, including also Albanian groups from Montenegro and Macedonia are present in this activity. This is a very good opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the valley of Valbona in the heart of Albanian Alps.

• Folk festival of orchestras (“Tipologjik I Sazeve”) is organized in the city of Korca. It is very interesting to listen the various melodies by different folk orchestras and to learn about typical Albanian instruments.

International Folk Festival of CIOFF is organized in Permet by the middle of July. It promotes the heritage values of minorities who lives in Albania.

• National Folk Festival of Gjirokastra is organized in September on the castle of the city. It is the most important folkloric activity in Albania, where all the regions together with Albanian diaspora are present.

• National Festival Song of Children in Shkodra, June.

• The Festival of Actors “Apollon” 04 in ancient city of Apolonia near Fier by the end of June.
